About

Lian Meaney is an Australian freehand artist who uses her craft to illustrate her profound admiration for animal life. With more than 25 years of practice, Lian's unique style displays technical line-work & bold, contrasting use of colour across a variety of artistic mediums. Most known for her horse artistry, with equine portraiture comprising the majority of her work, her creative works have found homes all over Australia, North America, & Europe.

From an early age she found belonging in creative expression & displayed a deep affection for animal life. In the Greater Whitsunday Region of North Queensland, a tropical archipelago with abundant wildlife, she lives an eclectic life surrounded by found curiosities, practicing a vegan, holistic lifestyle, & spending her days creating art & caring for animals.

Through her craft, Lian explores a variety of artistic mediums & tools, with the majority of work featuring the use of charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolour, sculpture, & acrylic paint. While she is known for her equine portraiture, her work represents diverse wildlife across a variety of environments & formats. Her more contemporary freehand artistry is comprised of a variety of artistic mediums that she's cultivated in her practice, at time's adding to or re-working her existing portfolio to represent her vision.
